Mathematical Society

The Tunisian Mathematical Society (TMS) was founded in 1992.

Objectives

The objectives of the Tunisian Mathematical Society are:

– To promote and encourage the discovery, learning, and application of mathematics.
– To develop new partnerships with mathematics users in universities, business, and other mathematical associations.
– To bring together Tunisian mathematicians through effective communication, increased membership, sponsorship of various activities, and partnerships with professional associations.
– To support mathematical research by communicating ongoing research to both specialists and non-specialists, publicly recognizing research achievements, and collaborating with research institutes, funding agencies, and users of mathematics.
  – To improve mathematics education through joint projects with mathematics teachers at all levels, by promoting progress in teaching, and by establishing partnerships with the ministries of higher education and scientific research, as well as organizations that support mathematics education.

– To advocate for mathematics by creating initiatives aimed at explaining, promoting, and increasing public understanding of the discipline, offering extracurricular opportunities for students, and encouraging partnerships with businesses and government.

Members

Members of the TMS are committed to the advancement of mathematical research, as well as the direction and development of educational programs in Tunisia. They seek new and inventive ways to inspire young minds and support established researchers in the country.

Any university-level mathematics researcher or educator is eligible to become a member of the TMS.

Both individual and institutional memberships are available. For members residing outside Tunisia, membership fees may vary.

Executive Committee

The TMS is managed by an executive committee of nine elected members: a president, a vice-president, a secretary general, a treasurer, and five additional members.

Cooperation

– The TMS currently has reciprocity agreements with several mathematical societies.

– Cooperation agreements have been signed with: the Swiss Mathematical Society, the Société Mathématique de France, the Portuguese Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Society of Japan, the Bulgarian Mathematical Society, the Canadian Mathematical Society, the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, and the Southern Africa Mathematical Sciences Association.
